Title: COMING SOON: KeywordCanine.com. You've just gotta see this video...
Post by: Jonathan Leger on January 08, 2012, 05:48:26 AM
Hi guys,

I'm hard at work on a new tool that makes it a snap to analyze keywords for search engine optimization purposes. But it's SO much more than that (it actually finds good niche keywords FOR YOU).

This is a joint venture with Josh Spaulding, a brilliant and well known Article Marketer that I've emailed my list about more than once in the past.  We're collaborating to produce this awesome tool.

Watch the video and let me know what you think. I'm very interested in your feedback, suggestions and ideas.

Here's the link:

UPDATE: The video below is new and demonstrates all of the features that have been added based on your feedback in this thread.

http://keywordcanine.com/videos/demo2/

(FYI, in the last half hour since I posted the new video, Keyword Canine has discovered another 15 niches. That's how fast it's growing at this point.)

[ADDED]
Thanks to the awesome feedback so far, I've already added in exact-match domain name availability checking into Keyword Canine.  Here's a screenshot link (it's just above the list of ranking pages):

http://keywordcanine.com/videos/demo1/domains.png
[/ADDED]

[ADDED]
Another great suggestion that I've implemented is adding a list of related keywords for further digging into the niche.  Here's a screenshot of the related keyword list for "old time radio":

http://keywordcanine.com/videos/demo1/related.png
[/ADDED]

[ADDED]
Still another great suggestion that's now implemented is showing the Advertiser Competition in the Niche Discovery Tool, as well as making it a filterable field.  This is now done. Here's a screenshot showing the list filtered for keywords with lots of AdWords advertiser competition:

Wow Jon.. This looks VERY interesting.. Please keep us posted.. Will this be a subscription or One time purchase?

I need to watch again and think on this..

The Niche Report area REALLY grabbed my attention.

Possibly incorporate available/ending/auction direct match domains..  That would be pretty sick.

Interesting idea. Thanks!

For both tools, or just the niche discovery tool?

Yeah, I've seen this search incorporated into more and more niche tools lately. It can be very useful, of course.

I agree with previous comments you need to add a keyword domain name availability feature. I also suggest NZ, UK & AUS search features too.

Jon, this appears to be a very good tool~

But honestly, I am not sure that I would be interested in using it.

And the reason is simple, I hate IM and am very slow to warming up to it!

For someone who is a interested in IM, or is a  good internet marketer, even
I can
see that it would be valuable, and I actually wish that I could force
myself to learn Internet Marketing! I know it would be of value to me!

More than likely I will leave this marketing opportunity to Jorchav, Video Mike
and all of the other Internet Marketers on the forum..

I will keep watching updates and have downloaded the video of it, as I know
my mind is often 'changeable'!

Jonathan:  A good beginning...but if you can incorporate available domains together with identifying products on amazon and clickbank for example...you now have a KW tool on steroids....  How would this be significantly different than Micro Niche Finder and Market Samurai?  You always over deliver so I am very interested to see what you come up with.

Those tinker toy tools don't find the niches for you, and their accuracy is questionable at best. Especially once the anchor text reports are available, this will blow those out of the water (though it already does).

I suspected it would just be a matter of time... First Keyword Elite, then Market Samurai, then SECockpit, and now... Keyword Canine.

It just boggles my mind that there are guys out there smart enough to come up with something like this, much less make it work.

I'd love to know how you toss a grumpy geeky coder in with a bubbly creative type (Normally these two types don't mix well)  to come up with hybrid like this. Astounding!

I think your idea would be good for two groups... Those with extra dough and beginners. A case could be made for either, as it seems to short circuit all the grunt work to come up with the gems in the first place. Taking you straight to the gravy, as it were.

Still, I'd want a more general purpose keyword tool to flesh out the findings of your program once it gave me something to bury up my muzzle in.

Always GREAT stuff coming from your fertile brain! And it just keeps coming!

A very attractive idea. In addition to evaluation of CPC is desirable to know the number of advertisers on each keyword.  If there is a reasonable price, then this tool will be in high demand.

Hi Jon,

Thanks for developing such a wonderful tool. I believe it had almost everything i am looking for in Keyword research. Additionally i would like to see:

1. Search by Niche  -  If i enter "Weight Loss" it should display all the Niche Results related to Weight Loss.

2. Dig a Niche -  While this tool provides some wonderful keywords to target and rank easily. I would prefer to see the ability to enter a broad Niche like "Weight Loss" and see what are the sub niches and then be able to digg them even deep down. The point is if i have a mega site on Weight Loss , i would be interested to know what keywords can i further target and rank for in my niche.

Recently i have used and unsubsribed to a couple of popular Keyword Research Tools which charge a hefty monthly fee. Both of them claimed they will keep adding thousands of keywords everyday. Though they did most of them never made any sense, i cant imagine to target such phrases. In your presentation of "KeywordCanine" i have observed most of the results make sense to target.  But then as i have mentioned above if you could also provide the capability to dig down a niche then i would totally that this is the Best Keyword Tool just like your Best Spinner (which has beaten every other spinner to dust.)

Honestly i haven't seen as genuine marketer as you online, would always expect genuine and best products from you.

Thanks & Regards,
Siva

Jon,

You no longer amaze me with your products! It's more of a natural process for you.

While I appreciate that there are quite a few similar tools in bits and pieces, to have a comprehensive tool with combined features, will always be a welcome for the marketers.

Jon, I am a poor marketer and my only concern is what will happen to individuals like us who are working on real tight budgets. :'( Leave some room for us so that we do not end up "selling sea shells at the sea shores" ;D.

All said and done....Amazing !!!  :D

Best wishes for the New Year!

Somen.

Another great tool from you Jon, as everyone else says your tools are Fannnnntastic.

Does Keyword Canine have the ability to research your own keywords, for example when you add a word in the big G's tool it spits heaps more back, if it doesn't you should consider it as we all have our own keyword ideas to run as a starting point, and then be able to analyze all of them this would be an incredible feature.

I definitely like the features this has so far, i just think it would be pretty darn good to analyze more than 1 keyword at a time. I do like the 'drill down in keywords' that someone else mentioned as well.

Thanks Jon for making things easy for us on here,
Shannon

I think it would be great if there is a filter to set the keyword match type for search (not just set it to phrase) and secondly if the keyword shows the Google Trend.

Thanks

Hello Jonathan.

This tool seems to be ambitious and have a very interesting database apart from the Google sniffing functions.
I have a lot of very nice tools and if it wasn't for that great database I guess I could skip it. But your growing
database with search results for France is very exciting for me. I'm just a bit concerned about what this will cost.
I am not too found of the subscription principle when I'm the payer ;-).
I don't say this to bother you or anything like that. I look very much forward
to purchasing your great tool rooted in your exciting and expanding database of keywords. I hope it will be affordable.
Thanks for you willingness to get inputs from your subscribers and customers.

Love the look of it - looks really interesting and will make it SOOOoooooooooo much faster than having to go through Google keywords.

1. Hope it will get niches for UK too, as well as USA, France and Germany.
2. Are we likely to get any problems with Google Capcha?

Jon, I really loved the user interface of this tool, really intuitive and fun to work with - I also use Traffic Travis Professional and Market Samurai - and I prefer your tool's interface layout.
As I build sites monetized with adsense, I would like to be able to include a minimum level of advertiser competition in my search because the $58 cpc for the car donation keyword (shown in the video) wouldn't help me much as there is no advertiser competition - however the label dispenser one would be a brilliant one!
A useful feature would be if a search was done and a good keyword found, to produce a group of five or more related keywords on the same subject that are also easy to rank for - to form the basis of building a site (label dispenser, label guns, label making tool, etc. etc.) - maybe this would come from a check of the niche database already built by the tool?
Another feature that would be fantastic would be to have a keyword search feature for amazon products based on the same criteria (difficulty, competition, etc.) for amazon affiliate site builders.
If you are looking for Beta testers can I beg a place?!

Awesome!
Alison

Hi Jon,

You have no idea how many keyword research tools I've bought. I don't even know which one to use. They all give me so different results that I've come to a point that I don't trust any of them.  Now I get my initial list of keywords from Google Keyword Tool and analize just that list on several keyword research tools (MS, MNF,TT...), export all results to Excel and filter all keywords except the ones that match as "easy to rank" on ALL tools.

You're probably the only IM'er I blindly trust because besides having so much experience, you are also the programmer.  What more can you ask for?

So this will be my only Keyword Research tool once it's out.

I haven't seen anyone ask for keywords in the title "Title Competition" (local and global) (at least exact, maybe phrase and if you want broad).  Does "Title Competition" not have enough ranking weight anymore to consider it in keyword research?

What about "URL Competition"?

If it's not a secret you want to keep, what formula or parameters do you use for difficulty (very easy, easy, hard...)?

This is what I would LOVE to see in this tool:

Both

Niche Discovery Tool

Keyword Analysis

I'm sure I have other ideas, I'll add another list soon!

Thanks!

Checo

This is what I would LOVE to see in this tool:

Both

  • If it's a local software, ability to install it on at least 3 computers for our own use (I use my keyword research tools on my home computer, office computer and laptop when I travel)

Niche Discovery Tool

  • Spanish Language
  • Custom Filters (let us create our default filters and be able to use them with a click of a button)
  • Export to excel

Keyword Analysis

  • Ability to import a list of keywords and have the tool analyze them all at the same time with results on a table for easy analysis, one keyword at a time would be extremely time consuming to chose from a list of, for example, 1,000 keywords and even harder to compare results to see which group of keywords are worth using for a big site
  • Title Competition (local and global) (exact at least, phrase and broad if possible too)
  • Export to excel
  • Option to add more local domain extensions in a settings section for domain availability (for example, .mx and .com.mx)
  • If it uses our ip for searches, please add an option to add a list of proxies

I'm sure I have other ideas, I'll add another list soon!

Thanks!

Has the makings of being a brilliant tool!!

My couple of suggestions........

1) Other keyword tools also show if the keyword has commerical intent by a Yes/No flag.
2) Also to show the number of ads showing up in the first page of google, again will indicate by how useful the keyword will be for Adsense.
3) Is it possible to incorparate a queue mechanism for a bunch of keywords? In other words, we input a whole bunch of keywords by either csv file or manually for the tool to analyse, leave it overnight and by morning its done?
4) Present the list in 3) in a similar manner to your Niche Reports list.
4) Because of 3) you'll need proxy support.
5) Because of 3) you'll need a variable time delay between so Google doesnt block.

Cheers!
Andy

Very nice tool Jon

Love the niche finder, the exact match domain finder, and just all the data in one window. What I would also like to see:

- some idea about what easy, moderate, hard really stands for, and what to expect to do as a marketer for various levels of difficulty (perhaps in an accompanying pdf)

- I'd like to see exact searches a month. Is it now giving broad searches? Give us a choice there

- the CPC, as far as I can tell, is often pretty unreliable. E.g. imprint pens was super high in your video, but in the contextual targetting tool, it's "just" over a buck. So...if you could include contextual targetting tool results, that would be awesome!

- I'd like to be able to enter a number of keywords, not just one at a time. Maybe there are issues of servers or google i.p. blocks etc to deal with then, but one by one...

Keep up the great work!

Jan

Hi Jon

Purchase many of your products already as I am sure many others have who are commenting here. I have used many SEO keyword tools and I found out that most fall in to 2 camps, camp 1 very basic tool for beginners and camp 2 top heavy with features that only muddy the waters as to what result to need to acheive and are incomplete.

There are 3 main additional features to your software that I would like to see as an adsense/affiliate marketer

1) Once Keyword Canine has found a niche keyword, if required, to then dig deeper in to that niche keyword to find a group of GOOGLE related keywords that can support the main keyword. This will allow for totally optimised SEO content to be written that is completely GOOGLE friendly.

However in the feature request (which I support) quoted above regarding "Weight Loss" which is a very competitive keyword, Keyword Canine should digg deeper to find a GOOGLE related keyword group all of which, when Keyword Canine looks at then may show that they also are very hard to compete against for ranking and should dig deeper again in to each keyword within the group and create a new GOOGLE related keyword sub groups from each of the group keywords. Keyword Canine should keep digging in to GOOGLE related keyword sub groups until a GOOGLE related keyword sub group finally emerges that yields EASY keywords to optimise for.

This should be enclosed inside a Project and a simple report generated, listing keywords found in each group and sub group along with EASY, MODERATE or HARD status. This report will show very quickly the true size of the task at hand, to optimise for a keyword like "Weight Loss".

2) A feature to extract the first 1500 words from each of the top 10 sites in google for a keyword put in to Keyword Canine. These words then anaylised and themed so Keyword Canine can then generate a list of LSI themed keywords and keyword phrases and compare them against the list generated in feature 1) above and then duplicates subtracted leaving a remainer not included in the original list which could then be added to the original list.

3) This third feature is not strickly a keyword tool feature, it is more of a wish list feature to make Keyword Canine a comprehensive internet marketing tool rather than a keyword research tool.

I would like Keyword Canine to be intergrated with one of your other tools like Article Builder or Instant Article Wizard or a modified version, where the final EASY keyword list from Keyword Canine is presented to software like Article Builder or similar to generate an spinable article featuring all the found and selected niche EASY keywords from Keyword Canine.

I can but dream...!!!

Lastly, please keep Keyword Canine simple, fast and robust -

Please do not include features like Domain name availability which can be found on all Domain name selling sites and if your chosen domain name is not available, will even generate a list of other domian names including your keyword within the domain, that are available. Perhaps you could offer a video course on how to do this instead!

Regarding backlink feature: unless this feature is comprehensive please do not include it. If you do decide to include a backlink feature, how about a feature that shows which common backlinks from authority websites to the top 10 google sites for your chosen keyword and authority site address are they linking from so that I can try to link form them also. Why re-invent the wheel?

Love your products
Paul

Great looking tool.
Niche Horde was something similar ?
I presume the database will be updated on a regular basis as there are a lot of Qs about Niche Horde.

The best keyword tool on the market by far is SECockpit by Shane Mellaugh. However this is a monthly paid tool and way beyond my means. Maybe some of the tools he has in place on SECockpit would be worth looking at.

Main websites available
.com
.net
.org
.co.uk
etc

click on link to go dierect to godaddy or namecheap?

He has the right idea regarding keyword research. It makes no difference how many listings there are for a niche. It all depends on who is on the first page when you check out that niche. If they are all high PR you have no chance, even if there are only 200 listing for that keyword. Most people and most software do keyword research wrong.

If it is a yearly programme and not an ongoing monthly fee I would be interested.

Anychance of adding the UK

I currently use SE Cockpit and a VA to find niches, if this product allows multiple simultaneous searches (and logins) once it's in production I'll be very interested.

You cannot beat SECockpit. Apart from the price nothing gets near it.

Hello Jon ,

I am very interested in this tool, have a couple of questions:

1) I use Market Samurai, the most valuable information I get from it is the SEOC value for keywords which I use to decide which keywords to focus on for my SEO.

What is the equivalent of the Market Samurai SEOC value within Keyword Canine?

2) What will be the cost of this service?
Will there be a lifetime licences available?
Early bird discounts?
Monthly or annual fee?

3) I already use an excellent service which is similar to Keyword Canine and one thing which makes it so good is they limit the membership to 1000 people for the following reasons:
- To ensure their server can handle the queries sent to it
- To ensure that the niches and keywords found are not devalued by too many people starting to compete for them from their service.

Question I have is will you be limiting the number of customers for this service? If so by how many?

4) You mention in your video that you are adding Germany and France, would it be too mush to ask if you could please add the UK too.

Why is the UK and Canada not on the start up list? First time I have come across a service like this where within the start-up these countries have been missed.

5) Please add me to any mailing list to sign up for the service as soon as it is available, happy to write an honest review comparing it against the many keyword tools I use and where the benefits and negatives are, plus if it is value for money once I know the price.

Kind regards,
Yusef

Jon,

I'm having a similar question as entrepreneur - how is this tool different from NicheHorde? I bought NH a couple of days ago and when I saw the db is old almost 2 years, I was confused. Now that I see you are creating a similar tool I'm confused even more. I'd like to know your view about the 2 products, so that I can decide which one I want to have.

Thanks

It seems to be a combination of your other product Nichehorde and a SEO analysis too, which I both have. What's the advantage of having this KeywordCanine product over Nichehorde which does a similar task. Wouldn't it be better to combine the two into a single product which uses the Nichehorde database that has been built up over couple of years now?

Hi Jon, as usually you keep the great tools coming.

I really liked the niches feature but I can see one major problem - Every member will have access to the same information and that is a major downside in my opinion. Also, if you can add and available EMD column to the niches table it would be great.

Thanks.

This tool looks interesting. I am fairly new to keyword research and have been struggling to learn it all. The things I have learned are:
1. The CPC is not reliable unless using the contextual tool (I been trying to do Adsense sites)
2. The only competition we need to worry about are the first ten on page one of Google Search results. If we can beat those then the other million don't matter because the ones on page one have already beaten the others. All we gotta do is determine whether we can beat the first ten.
3. To beat the first ten we need to find at least two results in those first ten with a zero or one page rank and not too many backlinks or see how many on page one are Amazon, Ebay, Wiki, or other similar to these. Is this correct thinking? I'm still learning :)
4. I have also learned that Market Samurai is slower than molasses and not good for beginners. Traffic Travis also seems to be very slow. I fell in love with SE Cockpit (I saw a video demonstration on it) but I am still a baby marketer and no way in hell can I afford it. I wish someone would take pity on us beginners and come out with something we can afford. I mean something like your Best Spinner where I was able to get it at $47. That is a price I can afford. But $77? No way! Especially not $77 a month. I hate monthly fees anyway! I hope this new Keyword Canine will be priced so that us little guys can get a word in edgeways.
I will keep watching this spot for news. What I use now is basically the Google Keyword tools and SEO Quake. I do wish I could get a better handle on keyword research. Still learning though. One other thing I struggle with is writing articles for some of these keyword phrases. You can only write so many articles about one subject until it becomes redundant. Maybe I am doing it wrong?
Anyways, thanks for all your hard work Jonathan. You are truly a brilliant mind.

Need an advertiser competition analysis for the CPC.  If a keyword is getting $3/click, but not very many advertisers are targeting, I'll be lucky to get ads that are relevant.

Jon,

I love your new product, especially the niche discovery tool.  :)

Just one thought, though. The analyze SERP Competition Data could sometimes be misconstrued.
If you happen to have one of the major websites mixed into that data, such as: amazon dot com or wikipedia dot org for example, that could give you the wrong impression. Even though these sites have a high page rank and a ton of back-links, they are fairly easy to get ahead of in Google. As long as people research further to see which sites are ranking on page one, this will not be a problem. I think the main thing would be to use the niche discovery tool in conjunction with the analyze SERP Competition Data, before you make your final analysis.

I'll agree with some of the suggestions here. The one I haven't seen mentioned is the highlighting for authority sites. It's a nice feature but too light so it's easy to miss from what I saw in the video. Looked like if was off-white. I would suggest a more contrasting color.

On the items previously suggested, I would second the following:

1. ability to export to Excel
2. ability to do match type. Not certain what the product uses now.
3. ability to see related terms

You're probably at the state where you've got a minimum feature set to launch and test viability so I know adding to the list would delay launch for you. The reason I think the above 3 items are important is because it makes the results more relevant and actionable.

Item 3 is important because it seems that the current software has 2 modes. The first is for the user who has an idea, but it's really a laser approach as we're limited to 1 keyword. So often, my first guess is not where I attack but gives me ideas. With the program now, I would have to use another tool to get the fringe/related terms and repeat the process.

I don't see myself using the niche finder part per se. It seems like it's for people that build sites around keywords. That's fine, just not me.

What about showing say easy to rank for "long tail" keywords for an existing or possible future niche?

For instance, if I have a web site that sells soccer gear, I want to find a bunch of long tail keywords that are easy to rank for that niche.

Is that possible to incorporate?

Really good tool Jon! I would take a look at SerpIQ, if you haven't already, to see what they are doing as it's a similar tool which I currently use. I would really like to see an average word count for the pages in the serps and also echo everyone's opinion that it should be a yearly fee instead of a monthly.

Looks great Jon.

I'm like a couple of other posters in that I would love to know a little more about what goes in to your difficulty ranking if you don't mind sharing.

I cross checked a few keywords that came up as easy to rank for in your video with the difficulty level found in Brad Callen's Niche Finder. Where they came up easy on your tool, most came up moderate, and some came up very difficult on his tool.

Keyword Canine of course would be a fantastic upgrade with the Niche Discovery tool. And that alone would make it worth the purchase. But a few more details on how the difficulty is determined would be appreciated.

Hey everyone, lots of great feedback. I'll respond to a few things here:

1. Niche Keyword Exposure: On the niche finder page, only the newest 100 keywords that KC has found are displayed. This means that the only people who are viewing that list are you and the others who are logged in at that point in time. So everytime you refresh that page, you will likely see more keywords. If you come back later you will see new keywords. This keeps the new keyword list fresh at all times, so no worries of over exposure.

2. @benyost: First, I sold HNS and unfortunately the new owner is not being very cooperative with me or customers :( So it seems that HNS is "dead." Second, this is a totally different tool than HNS. HNS was a "milti tool" which did have a keyword tool within, but it simply pulled from the adwords API... not anything like KC, which has it's own keyword database and pulls much more valuable data.

3. Pricing: You will not be forced to pay a monthly subscription :)

4. Competition Strength Indicator: We have a very unique algorithm in place, that looks at several different things to determine the strength. The output of each data point is assigned a number and those numbers are added up and entered into our 100 point scale to determine the strength of competition.

Very exciting!  Please add me to the list of people requesting UK database.

A question, pls, about the Niche Discovery tool, apologies if I missed the answer already. Will the discovered niches be updated? To take an extreme example, suppose "everyone" suddenly targets "greensheet houston", it will no longer be "easy". At what point will Niche Discovery reflect this?

A suggestion too, pls.  Output option to a .txt file - and to send the output in "title case format". As a beginner I'm assuming that format doesn't actually matter (pls correct if I am wrong) but I feed my keywords into something else and always think it looks tidier.

Also a plea for affordable fee. I do IM part-time so haven't yet had time to fully capitalise on the two excellent JL tools I bought very recently. I do hope to be able to add this one to my repertoire :-)

Looking forward to hearing more.

Sounds very interesting and I see where expansion on this idea could be valuable. I have a question though ... Where you did the niche search it returned words with very high CPC over $10 per click and yet the search volume was really low.

I know this might sound really dumb ... but why would the CPC be so high on a very low search volume keyword?   I hope someone can answer this.

Also, would like to see the "English" spelling of words added to this just for searches for the UK, Australia, Canada, NZ ... they spell several words differently than American English ...
example:  jewelry vs jewellery  |  orthopedic vs orthopaedic  |  optimization vs optimisation

You have probably already figured that but thought I would mention it.  Thanks

HI JONATHAN
TX FOR YOUR RESPONSE.  I AM A NEWBIE DOING NICHE WORDS RESEARCH.  ONE OF THE ASSIGNMENTS IS TO LOOK UP FIRST RANKING WEBSITES IN GOOGLE AND BING.  PUNCH THESE URLS INTO THE WEBSSITE FEATURE IN ADWORDS TOOL (SEE ATTACHED ) AND COME UP WITH A SET OF KEYWORDS.  THIS IS A PAINFUL PROCESS AND I WAS WONDERING IF KWC WOULD BE ABLE TO DO THIS AT A BETTER SPEED, ELIMINATING DUPLICATE WORDS ETC.

Hi Jon,

Once again, I like what I see so far.  The keyword analysis results page makes it very easy to see at a glance whether the keyword would be worth going after at my current skill level.

As a number of others have already suggested, I would like to see the keyword analysis tool have the ability to show and analyze related keyword terms.  In other words, I would like to enter a base or seed keyword and get at least 5 other related keywords that are also analyzed in a list format such as you have on the Niche Discovery page.

Additionally, the ability to export and save the research from the keyword analysis tool is rather critical to me.  Even if it is as simple as the ability to print the page to a file or to a printer.  A csv file that retains the color coding of your results page would be outstanding.

The Niche Discovery Tool will be an awesome tool for discovering new niche ideas.  I would like to suggest that there is some sort of checkbox or function that would allow us to select a particular niche keyword and "save" it to for later analysis.

For example, I could select the niche keywords "dark wolf beyblade", "zebra wood", and "pokemon natures" and save them to a list for further analysis.  As I have no idea what any of those keywords are about, I would need to discover what they were to determine if I wanted to go forward in those niches.  Does that make sense?

I am really looking forward to seeing the finished tool!  I hope that you and Josh provide a low entry fee for this software for those of us that are still learning the ropes.  A pre-launch special price for your subscribers would be awesome!

Thanks!

I would also want to see the number of "Juicy" backlinks with PR 1 or higher for each of the top ten competitors for the KW, as SECockpit shows them.

Ideally even more granular - how many backlinks per PR 1/2/3 etc for each of the competitors.

--------->>>>>>Please include a tool that will tell if the keyword has LOCAL intent or not! - This would be a huge addition.  Example:  When I type in "Flower Shops"  that is a local intent that shows Google Map Results...BUT when I type in "Search Engine Optimization"  that is NOT local intent according to Google...There are no map results.  Can you please include this in your tool..OR build a tool to do this..someone gave a tool like this away for free but it did NOT work.. thanks  <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

Another great tool Jonathan.

Some great additions would be as some others have already suggested the ability to analyze a list of keyword instead of just one.

Also I think being able to drill down in a keyword and get more keywords based around that keyword so that we can set up a website.  With these other keywords we can create categories and have longtail keywords for articles - I think by the time I got to this page you said you are implementing something like this into the tool.

Also the ability to export your findings.

I really like the Niche Discovery tool.

I think this is a great tool and like all your other tools it will only get better with time.

And since I already invested in that, is it possible to have some kind of discount for this new service you're offering?

Hi Genius Jon,

This is a awesome! Another great product from you. I just want to say thank you for producing great product. I am always looking forward to useing them.

WRT KeywordCanine, I like Niche discovery in particular because in my opinion, that is what you have beyond what Market Samurai is offering.. I do have some questions and suggestions

1) How long does it take to run to completion ? From the video you said you ran it overnight and got some 416 results. What if I do not find anything I like from those list of keywords, can I start running the second time , and if so, would it repeat the same result ? What I am hoping it can do is something like this.. Run for x hour , check result, like it, stop. If I dont like the result, disregard previosuly found, and start the second set of keywords, until I find what I like.. Is this something it is able to do ?

2) Among the list of those keywords found, it will be nice to have a checkbox at the end of each line so I can 'remove' what I cannot use so that I can filter out among those that meet the criteria to find what I can really use

3) What about keywords that seasonal trends ? From what I understand, the result is gathered from 30 days timeframe. If I search for this around Christmas time, it may show a lot of Christmas related keywords, but I may be misled thinking I can build a career out of selling christmas stuffs. How can you distinguish seasonal trend keywords from those that are permanent trend if you only sift through data from 30 day timeframe.

4) Is the database used same as Google Keyword Tools ? I hope that will be the case. If not, is this a private database ?

Thanks and Best Regards

Looks great John! You're  a brave man going into the keyword/niche research space though you certainly have tons of momentum! With all the other tools out there yours has similar features but enough variation to make it worth the buy!

Hi Jon

Firstly, happy new year mate! Just wanting to know your thoughts about the accuracy with the two keyword tools mentioned above. How will the new KC be any different?
I'm guessing that you have given KC a run already against them in a test environment?

What I do like about the KC is the easy to use interface with all the info you need right there.

Jon,

I second what Jan mentioned in the post below. In particular the inclusion of "Contextual" targetting tool results

Also - can you add an option to choose a "source option" (i.e. eBay or Amazon) that way it pulls Amazon related keywords.

(any offer for WebComp and NicheHorde customers  :))

Lastly, how about a link to JiffyArticles to order articles for the keywords straightaway :)

Jan

Okay, I started watching the video, and was sitting here thinking that this doesn't do any more any differently than anything else out there like niche sensei, or market samurai, or other similar tools. However, by time it was a little over halfway finished, I was literally excited, and wishing I could get my hands on it right now. Heck, it does more now than any other tool out here, and it's not even finished yet. Hopefully it'll still be priced at a reasonabally affordable rate.

Off hand, I really can't think of anything else I would like to see added to it. maybe that's because I'm just impatient to get ahold of it and start profitting with it because used correctly, it will surely be a money maker.

Hi Jonathan,

Look. I have purchased more Keyword Research tools that I can remember.

What I need is a Keyword Basket. That is, a reliable and fast software where I can import keyword lists from different sources easily (choosing the fields/columns/order). A tool to store and find all the keywords I have been researching along the years (using quick filters and advanced search functions) . A tool that doesn't get Outdated or abandoned after a few months. A tool that I can trust.

That's what I need most. Any one else???

Regards,
Diego

Hi John I triple emotion the request of at least two commenters back, about including the numbers from the Contextual Targeting Tool of Google, since it serves as a more reliable basis for Adsense value than the popular CPC.  ;D

Thanks!

And of course, I'm itching to get my hands on this. Only question is, how much? :)

Hi Jon,

Not sure of your Avg Sl data, as I ran a bunch of the keywords through Market Samurai and came up with some very different results.

ie: carbuyers dot com is listed in the video as having 38 page and site links, yet MS shows 5,830 page and 20,219 site links

Isn't one of the basic premises of competitiveness the link totals in the equation?

I know you will agree with me on this, so why the difference?

Also where is your data for links coming from - MS - source is now Majestic as the wonderful Yahoo is decommissioned.

Thanks

Greg

If the domain availability could be listed on the niche reports page, so you could search ONLY for niches that have domains available (among other things), that would be fantastic. Otherwise, looks great.

I'll definitely buy it either way.

I assume all keywords are exact-match keywords. I would put in available exact-match domains for .com, .org, and .net, filter out all company names, include whether the word is a buyer keyword or a searcher keyword, add in keyword grouping best to medium, number of ranking pages on top ranking websites, and whether or not they are blogs or websites and search trends over the past 3 months combined with demographics of searches ie women between 18-30, men between 30-49. I would also filter out all exact-match keywords with less than 250 searches per month.

Other than those items, it looks pretty good. Thanks  ;)

The source of backlink data we are using excludes spam links from content farms and other low quality trash that Google gives little value to. So the numbers you see from Keyword Canine is the actual number of QUALITY links a site has, which gives you an idea of how many QUALITY links you need to rank.

A lot of high ranking sites have a lot of spam-generated links, and those link numbers might discourage you from trying to rank for a set of keywords that a far lower number of good quality links would push you in the rankings for. That's why we prefer to show you the numbers we are.

Make sense?

Jon

I see that the advertiser competition is shown on the Analyze tab. While that is good, it would be a help if that could also be a filter.

If you are building product sites, advertiser competition may not be important, but if you are building for adsense it would certainly speed things up if you could filter out the ones that aren't likely to have many ads associated with them.

Daniel Tan used a simple rule that gave a number that told him whether a market was easy to tackle or not -- I cannot remember it, but ask around and you might be able to incorporate that into this tool. It was a special google search phrase that returned a number that was the best possible indicator of competition for a keyword and usually ran between 1 and around 700.

That would be very helpful.

Hi Jon,

Thanks you so much for adding the .mx extension for domain availability.  Did you also add the .com.mx extension?  If not, could you also add it please?

.mx was introduced just a couple years ago.  Being an SEO consultant in Mexico, I wanted to know if Google paid more attention to the .com.mx or .mx extension and a friend did a couple of tests having the .com.mx domain beating the .mx in all tests by very little margins (1 to 5 spots).

These tests were basically getting the exact same domains with both extensions (keyword1.mx and keyword1.com.mx), spinning 5 articles and using different spun versions on each domain, having the exact same on-page optimization and both having the exact same backlinks.

So if possible, it would be very helpful to have both, .com.mx and .mx extensions checked for domain availability.

Thanks Jon!

Checo

I was on the fence about this product until I seen the updated video and now I will definitely be being when it is released.

One more feature that would be nice - and maybe a bit of a tall order - is to see see a history list of backlinking for the top 10 sites in google, so we can see if any of those top 10 sites are actively building links at present, or have had growth spurts in the past etc.

Love your products
Paul

Jonathan -

I respect both you and Spaulding, and hope the product does well for you both. A few things I'll share, because I'm an avid user of Market Samurai:

The tool looks great so far, but I've stopped personally using Micro Niche Finder because I missed a lot of opportunities with it's "Think for you" model (green lights, etc., rather than showing me how it arrives at those determinations).

So if your tool could show this data...that would be great, especially the backlink strength in terms of PR. This is also why I was going to buy Web Comp Analyst before the YSE tool was retired (sad to see it go).

If KWC could replace the information that WCA gave - in addition to what you and Josh are cooking up...it would be a serious contender in my book. Otherwise I know it will still appeal to AdSense folks (I'm not doing AdSense myself).

Jon - is the search volume exact match or phrase match or broad match?  would be nice to see all 3.  i prefer exact match.

on the cpc are you pulling that from google adwords keyword tool or are you getting it from traffic estimator b/c I'd prefer what the average CPC to come from traffic estimator then GA KT, I find it much more accurate in what the CPC actually is.

can you add Canada to the list for data?

was really glad to hear your search terms is not shared with everyone.  that'd suck.

be cool to have the data export to pdf.  reason being is i do a lot of local seo for smb's and i could see this tool being a great tool explaining if a keyword is a good target or not.

is there a limit on how many searches you can do?
is this a desktop or web based tool?   I'd prefer web based tool.

another awesome tool (as per usual).

Wow! From what I've seen, KeywordCanine looks AWESOME!

Just imagine how much time it could save us looking for profitable niches. I've been doing a lot of time-consuming research trying to find exactly that using other tools, but every time I analyze the keyword ideas I come up with, I just get frustrated because the market is just too hard to compete against.

Hopefully the price you come up with for this product will be affordable to us budding Internet marketers.

How about adding Australia to the list of countries? ;D

Thanks, Jon.

Jon,  seems to be the best tool since market samurai, which becomes increasingly 'overweight' for this purpose.

One question/suggesion I hve is this:

is the CPC number taken from he Keyword Research tool or from the contextual adwords tool?

Most often than not when we see a $50 keyword it's really $2-4 when bid on in the contextual network vs the search network.

So if  the software grabs it from the search tool, there would be an extra step
I would have to make to check the contextual ool.

thanks

Please consider adding a tool that will sort these easy niches only in which there is an available .com or .net    We all know how important this is for the ultimate success of the websites that are setup on these domains.   It is very labor intensive to do it the other way.   Other than that I really like what the software does so far!

It's very interesting tools.
I think this is great because it's can show all needed information in one page.

But it will be the greatest if we can input many keywords (such as 20-100 keywords)
and it's show the table that summarize selected data (as we choose such as difficulty).

So we can select niche keyword that conform to my main products in an very easy way.

But I am waiting for this products.

This is awesome!  I have several keyword tools but what I really like is the fact that it finds the golden keywords for me.  Here are my two cents:

Mac compatible (without having to buy windows, etc. - I still haven´t been able to really use best spinner and IAW because I have to use my wife´s pc to use them)

Some case studies or trainings for newbies to connect the dots on how to use a golden keyword for adsense, amazon, etc. and how to integrate this with Article Builder, Best spinner)

Looking forward to its release!

Hi Jon,

I like what this new tool is going to do for US/UK/FR markets.
Plenty of spare time for a few bucks investment.
;-)

I got 2 suggestions:

- Would it be possible to get the # of words in the keyword phrase (niche tool tab)?
- I Would also like to be able to search in the niche tool tab if the database contain a specific keyword (acne, weight, car, insurance,...)

My suggestion is to include Google Insights data for the keyword.

A lot of people doing keyword research overlook this step and then wonder why their "hot" keyword isn't getting results, when if they checked the search trends, they would discover it was either a very seasonal search or a search term that had dropped right off.

This is a great tool.  A suggestion we had was when you give us the Top Ten if there was a button to push that showed us where there links were coming from so we would know where to go to post our links.

Keyword Canine is already awesome Jon! I love the new additions. I saw that in SERP  competition, it was not showing local results - is this a possibility? This is because this would influence my decision as to whether or not to go for a keyword or not. For example a garden tool with Petrol in the keyword phrase is more likely to have strong competition in the UK than the US but because the numbers are much smaller in the UK, this can slew the results to make a phrase look easier (going by global results) than it is on a local basis.
I have sites that are geo-targeted because the phrase is easier to rank for in the US (and so on).
I love the fact that Keyword Canine doesn't just show easy to rank for - it shows HOW easy! Now that the adwords competition filter is there and the related keywords, this is an awesome tool for any adsense site builder!
FAB-U-LOUS!
Alison

ps - did you get my product suggestion pm yet?

One item that you could add to the main competition report page is the year each site was first registered for each of the top ten sites - as aged of a domain is a factor

Hey Jon,

I already started working on a keyword niche bot about a year ago. Wasn't planning to market it or anything. Just was planning on using it for myself.

Can I send you a copy of it?

I think that you'll find one interesting aspect of my personal bot is that it uses the keyword snatcher to initially harvest keywords to inspect.

I've found that an excellent way to find a niche is to run Keyword Snatcher on a root...then I have a formula that ranks all of the snatcher phrases (in excel). I've run a regression analysis on my actual results to create a linear weighted equation for Google, Amazon, Bing, Yahoo, and Ask.

Next I eliminate about 75% of the keyword snatcher's keywords (below one standard of the formula's ranking output).

Next I check out the exact phase # on each thing. I really don't go tooo much further than that. I've found that from there...anything with less that 15k exact phrase results will rank very well.

I've gotten an average ranking time on about 5-6 days for my niches.

Let me know if you want to take a look Jon.

Tom

I just watched your videos. NICE work Jon!

I'm not sure how much more my thing would offer for you there other than my ideas and research. You've taught me a lot of things. Keyword niche finding is something I have a lot of passion for, and I have developed a unique ability to rank site and pages in a very short time (I ranked for "Minnesota Twins Emblems" in 2 hours once and I'm still making revenue with ticket sales there...just a little :) )

Anyways, I'd be happy to contribute to this project if you'd let me! I've done so much work in this area and I've always been looking for a way to apply my findings.

If you're not interested no problem. I'll probably purchase your keyword canine service...I've purchased most of your stuff...you're the man!

Cheers!

I run SENukeX backlink campaigns all the time and each campaign takes 3 keywords.

It would be greate to type in a generic keyword like "diabetes" and have the tool generate a bunch of easy to rank for "long tail keywords" for link building without having to anayze or research.

Sort of on the concept of the Great Article Builder tool I bought that just "spits" out articles with a push pf a button.

I go back and forth with the Google Keyword Tool and Niche Finder to find keywords and don't know which is better. Probably neither - LOL.

My business partner just bought your Article Builder and he cannot stop raving about it!  So, if you can make this tool even as half as helpful as you have AB, then I'm sure we will be purchasing this tool too.....

The data comes from the Adwords API, which is the same data used for the normal Adwords keyword tool -- not the contextual targeting tool. The data for the context tool is not yet available to the API.

a) At 12.41 on the video you say you'll be setting up some case studies. That will be fantastic thanks, because if there's one thing I'm good at it's never earning any money online (I know that probably sounds impossible to someone like you, but believe me, I manage).
b) As Jaymez says, how is it significantly different from MNF and Samurai?
c) And with Jaymez again, any chance on "identifying products on amazon and clickbank ". Perhaps that would help me solve (a).

Thanks for all your fantastic work - you help me keep hoping that one day I'll crack it.

This is just completely amazing! We have been using a program that finds related keywords, but you already have to know what niche you want to focus on. That does not help very much if you are not sure which niche you want to target.

Not sure this is really that much different than what I am already using, but I do see one BIG difference. If you are using a server to compile all of this niche data, that means this isnt going to be a one off payment product. From what I can see this doesnt have the power of the one I am presently using with free lifetime updates. It will need a whole lot more value than it presently has for me to jump on board - of course thats assuming its a membership product, and that seems to be your general trend these days...

Hi Jon,

As usual your update brings some wow I like that reaction.

I dont know if thats possible but I would suggest to add in the Reports a new column:
# of outbound links in the linking page.

This way it could be used to try to get a link from the same source if the # competitors getting a link from this page stays reasonable.

It has no value at all to link from a page having already 99 outbound links...

See you,
Joe.

PS: I had a couple of ideas for new product/concepts to be created (if they add some value).
How could I send them to you as discreetly as possible?

The source of backlink data we are using excludes spam links from content farms and other low quality trash that Google gives little value to. So the numbers you see from Keyword Canine is the actual number of QUALITY links a site has, which gives you an idea of how many QUALITY links you need to rank.

A lot of high ranking sites have a lot of spam-generated links, and those link numbers might discourage you from trying to rank for a set of keywords that a far lower number of good quality links would push you in the rankings for. That's why we prefer to show you the numbers we are.

Make sense?

Well yes perhaps, but I would still like to know the criteria for filtering out those spam links. Spam links do work, especially in large numbers, and if the real link count is several thousand links and your tool is only showing 38 (as in the earlier example quoted) that is a big discrepancy! Is there any specific reason why you wouldn't want to release the details of who is providing your backlink data, (I am assuming you haven't built your own crawlers)? For those of us who have been in the Google game for more than a decade and have pretty much every SEO tool out there it would be nice to be allowed to judge the reliability of the backlink data ourselves.

Almost regardless of what backlink data you are using the tool would be very valuable, but it would be nice to know if we should go out and run some more tests ourselves before investing in developing a new website in that niche, especially when targeting niches that are in the middle or hard, rather than the lowest hanging fruit...

As previously mentioned I would also love the idea of being able to filter the niche keywords you have found from a general niche or major keyword rather than getting completely random keywords based solely on competition etc, that's part of what makes MNF such a great tool.

I think KC is a cool tool and I think everyone likes the simple interface and dashboard look.
Is it possible to have 2 features:
1- "hot trends" (i.e for today girl scout cookies has 165,000 local and global search counts)--may not be significant to some, although an indicator.
2- one click interface to a purchasing domain name from a 3rd party provider (you'd benefit from this for sure as well as future affiliates)

Best to you---

Hi Jon - Thank you for staying on toP!

Another feature I would really enjoy is the tool will cache my site - URLs, Title and description tags.

It will calculate the keyword density of each page.  Based on the top 1-5 keywords it will give me a value - using CPC and estimated traffic.

Here's the gold: Then to put me in the game - it would insert your data and allow me to sort by value of CPC*estimated traffic using the niche data.
I could also sort by URL, because when I sort by URL - the newly inserted will not have a URL and I will be able to quickly work with suggestions
that I have never thought of before.

So now we can see the value of my own pages/site plus see where I have holes in my attempt to dominate the niche.

This would help me tremendously.  As building multiple quality sites is no easy task.  Yet I do want to know where I may miss opportunities, using my
existing domains.

Next to having a domain name match keywords - the url itself is valuable too.  There was another tool out that would give me a Google quality score
using the keyword and my on page optimization.  But I know you would take this idea to a new level and actually give me actionable results.

Then tie all this into the engine of TBS and we can churn out LSI keywords that are not a copy from Google link wheels our anything silly like that.

I look forward to seeing the product, because I know it is rocking with a solid foundation.

Thank you so much for all you do!

I just watched the 0 to 7 video. Yes that's impressive, but I would hazard a guess that it was the backlinking you used that got you there that quickly.

No doubt the tool gave you direction and told you of it's ease. Yes, that's nice and yes, I'm interested. But I think you're using a bit of deception in your marketing that might lead some, particularly the newbies, to believe it was the tool that did the heavy lifting.

Maybe you could shed some light on the backlinking that was used to accomplish the #7 spot in 10 days.

Yes, I know that's not the point of keyword canine. But when you scream "look at what my keyword canine tool did in just 10 days" I feel you should be completely transparent.

Where's the deception if a tool is promoted as "finding niches" and "showing you where to pick the low growing fruit" and is shown to do so? If a golf pro tells you they can show you how to improve your golf swing, do you complain that the golfer's techniques must have improved due to their putting and that that wasn't covered?  ::)

Of course there are lots of different things to consider. This tool covers finding niches and keywords.

From the first viewing, I realized that it could be invaluable to someone working to get their site/sites

Where is the backlink data coming from?

This is really important information to be able to evaluate the reliability of the data...

Sorry guys, I was wrong in my original reply to this. We are currently using Blekko and will continue to use them for our backlink data as they are very good at eliminating spam results and only showing the "good" backlinks. However, Jon is working on an in-house alternative that will provide even more data. That will be rolled out sometime in the next 6 weeks or so.

‘AAH’ Josh,

Just proves even the 'best' screw up sometimes! I am sure you made the first statement
because you two have been ‘working on’ the creation of in-house ‘VS’ outside source.

Thanks for sharing this with us Josh.

I kind of like Blekko, even with their smaller DB, but I would have preferred the SEOMoz data which I think the is the best thing available now that Yahoo Site explorer is gone.

For those who don't know how Blekko's backlink data compares with Majestic and the others, here are a couple of articles on this (notice that the first two are from 2010 so fairly outdated, especially considering the $30 million investments from Yandex at the end of 2011):

searchengineland.com/blekkos-seo-tools-what-information-do-they-provide-54479

internetmarketingninjas.com/blog/search-engine-optimization/the-blekko-seo-guide-youve-been-waiting-to-read/

dixonjones.com/seo/yahoo-site-explorer-alternatives/

Anyway, I can't wait to play around with Keyword Canine, it looks like a really awesome tool!  :)

Was wondering if this software does it or what can be suggested.

My main thing besides how great this software seems to be  ( seeing as MS rank tracker is faulting ) I need to keep an eye on the ranking of my sites and keywords.

Will this software do that???
