formatting problems
« on: March 29, 2013, 02:35:51 PM »
Hi,

Just got AB and am excited to get started with it. I've set up my first AB blog, but have run into some formatting issues...

1)

is automatically injected at the top of each post and appears as visual text at the top of each AB post. And if I remove this, the entire body of the article disappears leaving only the post title.

2) When images are added, <div style=’float: left;padding: 10px’> also appears visually as text within the post.

3) The
headings in the article look right in the "Edit Post" area of my Wordpress, yet these appear as just regular text once viewed as a post.

Any ideas on how to correct this?

Can I suggest that you first try disabling all plugins and see what happens. If that does not solve the issue then use one of the WP default themes and see what happens.

My guess is that this is related to either a theme or plugin at your end because this ain't happening for the rest of us. ;)

Thanks, Andrew. You were spot on! Apparently the "SEO Auto Linker" plugin was the culprit.

Ah well, I understand using a plugin like that can have some ill side-effects anyway, so maybe it's for the best and I shouldn't even look for a replacement?

In the sites we make we use a plugin called WP Affiliate Ultimate, a paid plugin that does this stuff and we don't have formatting issues. It may be a little less sophisticated than the one you were using but it will get the job done.

One of the most important tasks we deal with is that of ensuring that all the bits work all the time. Nothing is perfect but in our setups the worst we see with this plugin is a very occasional malformed link where two different tools add links in the same place but that is inevitable and very uncommon.

To the best of my knowledge interlinking posts has no negative SEO effects. I reckon it to be a good way to make your sites more valuable to readers because you can lead them through your site according to their interests thus creating an internal sales funnel to your own offers and pre-sell pages.
