Instant Video Wizard / Re: How to Import and Edit Audio Voiceovers?
« Last post by Meg on May 03, 2018, 01:47:48 PM »
I have spent some time playing around with uploading a voiceover today. I had one (well 4 actually but the other 3 name particular companies, so not really suitable) that retold part of the tale of Little Red Riding Hood. It was an MP3.

I uploaded it to the slicer but could not get any break points to match the natural breaks in the story, although I thought I remembered seeing this done some months ago.

I ended up using 2 methods and doing two different videos, one for Facebook (square) and one for youtube (landscape). Both have been uploaded to Youtube and you can see which you prefer.

Method 1
I used Audacity, which is a free audio editing program (You will probably need the free LAME codec downloaded too). The MP3 that I had, had 4 separate areas relating to the story, so I used Audacity found the spot where the speaker took a breath (audio file is very low) and made a mark, then deleted the unwanted parts and saved 4 separate MP3 files name RRH1, RRH2, etc. I used the ordinary part of IVW to create 6 slides (Title + 4 story slides + call to action), uploaded some photos I found on the public domain, then used my voice for the title and call to action and uploaded the separate MP3s for the story slides.

Method 2
The MP3 I had was a story. I uploaded it and made 4 random marks on the slicer and let IVW create 4 slides. I added a title and left it silent, then added some Public Domain photos to the slides.

I thought the story might look or sound choppy, with the audio being split or with the slices being not in the right place. But listen and watch for yourself. I don't think there is much to choose between the 2 videos. The second, using the slicer was a LOT faster and the changes in the story are not quite aligned with the pictures. But with the transitions, I don't think it matters. See for yourself.

Currently there's no way to do that because that glitch is an issue with the Windows server an not with the software. Unfortunately After Effects won't run in server mode on a Linux server so we need to run it on a Windows server. Windows isn't as stable as Linux so every once in a blue moon that glitch rears its ugly head and I have to reset it.

So the best thing to do when it happens is post here and I'll take care of it asap.

Thanks for the rapid action, Jon.   :)

I tried the same procedure again - and it worked - so it appears to be the rare glitch you referred to.  I just glad to know it won't affect any of the other members.

One question...

Meg said: "Once cleared, everything will work again."

So the question is, if it were to happen again, how do I "clear" my account (and stop the "infinite" rendering), without having to post here?

Should be fixed now.

Once in a blue moon the After Effects server has a glitch that causes the videos to stop rendering. I'll get it fixed shortly.

It is probably a bug on the server. It has happened to me before. Once cleared, everything will work again.

I've been using IVW and loving the results... until today.  I encountered an After Effects bug, that not only froze my video creation but has frozen my account too!

I had created a video with only 2 slides.  I was editing the first slide, was in After Effects, trying to generate "Kinetic Text 2" to replace that slide.

Kinetic Text 2 says that 30 seconds is the expected time to "render".  And it was exactly 30 seconds. However...

After 30 seconds, it switched to "Finishing..." and starting counting the seconds upward: 1...2...3...

When it reached into the HUNDREDS of seconds, I realized it was never going to finish and something had gone wrong.  So I went to "Projects", then re-opened the video I was working on.  It looked like everything was "clean" and I could continue.

However, when I went to After Effects and clicked on a Kinetic Text "+" to enter text, I got an error message that said I had an After Effect that was still rendering, and could not work on my video until that rendering has finished.

So I logged out.  Logged back in - and my account is STILL frozen - waiting for this "infinite rendering" to finish!

Could you please:

a) Unfreeze my account
b) Stop the infinite rendering error
c) Correct this error so it doesn't crash anyone else's account, in future

Instant Video Wizard / How to Import and Edit Audio Voiceovers?
« Last post by SpinnerGuy on April 30, 2018, 02:50:15 PM »
Jonathan, I can't find a comprehensive guide on how to import and edit audio voiceovers.

It's the main (use case) reason why I invested in IVW.

I know it can be done, but need to see a visual tutorial rather than a few lines of text that briefly say you can import and slice.

Do you have one and if not, can you create a video showing how that can be done, please.

Thank you so much in advance.

Thanks Meg, this was the main reason why I bought IVW, so I could import my own voiceovers and add anything I wanted. I'll make separate post to see if I have any luck there
