Localized domains for a NJ site

As i was working on a article rewrite for MLM, a thought came to mind.  My wife is an Independent Beauty Consultant for Mary Kay, though she is not currently active.  Since she isn't working full time right now, I've been trying to encourage her to become active again and begin working on her business.  Now we live in Bolingbrook, IL, a southwest suburb of Chicago and I was thinking about the beauty category in AB.  I would like to set up a blog for her and place links on her blog to mary kay website that she can sign up for.  In addition, I would also like to localize the domain so that people searching for beauty products in our area, which would include the surrounding communities, can come across her blog and subsequently contact her, but I don't know how many people would actually search for a keyword like "bolingbrook beauty"  Let's say I did some keyword research related to the beauty niche and came up with a nice keyword that would get alot of searches, would it change the results if I named a domain  Or does it really matter, since backlinks will be created in order to rank for that specific keyword?

If you can determine that a few hundred people search for Bolingbrook KEYWORD, then you would do well to register a domain which exactly matches that.
Having an EMD will be a nice boost in addition to any back linking campaign.

You may want to do a keyword search for Chicago as well as Bolingbrook
to broaden the field a bit.
