EMD for Hard Keyword?
« on: June 22, 2013, 08:44:43 AM »
I have an existing domain that is a good keyword phrase for an EMD and niche. I just plugged it into Keyword Canine and it came up as Hard to rank for.

Is it even worth it to try and have a niche jet site created for it?

Remember that a tool like Keyword Canine is not a decision taker it is, at best, a decision aid.

If I were you I'd get some experience in using the tool and calibrate its guidance against your skill level. My guess would be that any users with real success who use Keyword Canine or any other decision aid very quickly formulate their own guidelines based upon their own results.

You need to roll out a series of sites, probably at least 25 or so, in different niches and with different constraints that you treat equally as far as possible. Doing this will tell you what is possible given your current skill level and other resources. At the same time you can also be learning how to make your sites profitable. Remember that rankings and profitability do not inevitably go hand in hand. Any keywords that you use for ranking need also to be those used by people who are the most likely to take actions that are profitable for you.

Random rankings for random keywords are pointless.

Yes, you can. But if it's targeting a competitive phrase i would not expect it to rank solely by the promotion we do. You would need to do some promotion on your own as well.
