Hey guys,

I wrote a script to generate an infographic from an article. This is just an article I pulled at random from EZA.

What do you think? Would you be interested in a tool that can generate an infographic from an article?

This one is using a very basic template, of course. I would have a graphics artist design some really nice templates that could be selected.

Interested in your thoughts...

Oh, and as to what you can use infographics for, they pull lots of eyeballs when you post them to social media sites like Facebook or Pinterest.

That is a really cool idea!
Do you want to have fixed templates or does the script look for certain keywords or phrases that trigger certain graphic elements?

You would pick the graphics from a provided selection or provide your own via url or upload.

FYI guys, I just updated the infographic with a nicer layout to give you a bit better idea of what we can do. Still working on it, though. :)

I'm not going to post it here but there is a free service that creates these infographics already online. Just a little FYI to consider before you get too involved in this project.   8)

(But it doesn't draw from an article, so that's a plus for your project!)

An Extra feature OR a New Project.
I'm noticing infographics and Designs that Fill a shape with words related to a topic
with the words in smaller or larger font to make the word fit in the shape and to emphasise some words.

Clearly a designer with a budget and time is needed OR is there a software short cut?

Articles have keywords and related words/phrases. ArticleBuilder knows the keywords and knows their relevance.
It seems to me that
Knowing word significance gives an order
Knowing word length in characters gives size
Setting a few templates of font size, virticles and horizontals gives us visual significance
The software would put the major words in the largest font where there is the space and fills in words from down the order in remaining spaces

Do you mean a word cloud? I did a word cloud of the words in your post http://screencast.com/t/KsanWj4Bd (http://screencast.com/t/KsanWj4Bd)

No not a word cloud something a little more design focused. and a deliberate shape, be it a square or a wedge.

A word cloud function but with the words resting on a base, horizontal or vertical, would be a good infographic component.

Do you know of a way of generating a word cloud you'd like for promotion, without all the posts you need for a typical cloud in WP?

Sorry - Now I've re-read your post and visited the link I have the answer to my question.
AND i guess that does most of what I had in Mind.

Words by significance but to a base is still something I seek

Those word clouds are based on the text you put in. You could create your own nonsense text if you wanted, just containing the words you are interested in. Whichever words are repeated most often are shown as biggest in the word cloud. So, if I used the start of Goldilocks and the three bears and just repeated a few sentences, I would get a word cloud based on that. Or you could just use the words you want like SEO, infographic, design, etc. Repeat the most important ones more often.

Here is a word cloud creator http://www.wordle.net/ (http://www.wordle.net/)

You will need a screen capture facility as they don't allow you to save them as jpegs. The one I used was on a program (not for IM) but did the same thing.

So... Jon,
Will it be available? :D
Will it generate infographics (it's not actually infographics, better to say text with pictures on some background but anyway :D) from AB automatically?

Hey Jon,

I recently got REALLY turned on to infographics and am trying to create 1 now from my own text and trying to use photoshop but it's a real pain and I'm no graphics guy.

What happened to your project to do this? Pinterest is ideal for infographics.
